I am excited to present to you a collection of works under the title ‘Two of Swords’. This name is inspired by one of the tarot cards. For those familiar with tarot reading, this card generally signifies being at a crossroads, caught in the middle of a conflict, and facing fears.
Within this exhibition, I delve into the concept of beauty intertwined with evil, where beauty emerges alongside ugliness. It’s about merging opposites, creating a sense of obscurity, and revealing darkness and secrets to embrace them fully. Rather than judging the world, I aim to showcase its doom and magnificence.
Connections Between Works
Each of my artworks is interwoven through various connections, but symbolism stands out as a prominent thread. Symbols of death, such as skulls and blood, alongside flowers and eyes, frequently appear in my works. Eyes, being the windows to the soul, conceal secrets, which I find captivating. The theme of beauty is pivotal in each piece. For instance, my dragon painting illustrates the deceptive nature of beauty—the colors are alluring, yet you stand before a deadly creature. This juxtaposition is what excites me about the piece. Similarly, the spider painting reveals beauty within the darkest fears, where the figure is both attractive and eerie. Another work, used in my comparative study, delves into the concept of choice—how beauty can be captivated and how such captivity can be desired.
Materials
I employ a variety of art media, driven by a mental need to avoid the monotony of a single medium and a belief that any material can create something amazing in the right hands. The diverse media align with the exhibition’s concept, ensuring that the artistic process remains dynamic and engaging. This variety motivates me to explore new perspectives on themes and to develop more innovative ways to convey ideas to the audience. It’s a challenge, but overcoming these challenges leads to excellence.
In summary, ‘Two of Swords’ is an exploration of beauty in the context of evil, bringing together dualities to evoke a sense of obscurity. Through different media and symbolic connections, my works invite you to broaden your horizons, face fears, and embrace the darkness and secrets of the world. Thank you for joining me on this artistic journey.
